A friend has leant me his old camera, it's an Olympus Camedia E-10 with a 9 - 36mm lens.  I'm wondering if I can get anything out of it that I can't with my Pental K110D.  That's after I've removed the smudgy fingerprints from the lens   .

Thanks for that.  I think it might help to work out how to switch it on properly first    ::

A good camera but a bit long in the tooth, it was a low end pro medel when it came out early this decade. 4Mpixel as well so a step behind your current. The thing it will give you though is better wide angle views with that lens, in fact for wide angle 9-36 is about as good as it gets!
Have fun

Aha!  That's useful to know.  It does seem like an old one, the settings are quite basic.  Good for landscapes maybe?

Yep, big wide angle is good for landscapes but have a play, there might be some distortion at 9mm which will produce interesting effects! Just depends if the lens was tailored to the camera or is a general wide angle.
And at that focal length range I'd guess the lens was probably a very pricy pro model as well so should give good sharp and bright pictures once cleaned up!
